Interview - Nicole Magoffin

What type/s of riding do you do?

Dressage

Introduce your horses:

Jaybee Ryana - Sire - Royal Hit, Dam - Jaybee Acacia – Aachimedes - 8 year old Bay Mare.

Ryana or known more commonly as Princess Lizzie is an absolute girly girl.

Where did your love of horse-riding begin and when did you get started within your discipline?

My love for horses began at around the age of 14, where I cleaned stables out for 4 hours for a half an hour ride. After persevering with this for a few years my Mum and Dad gave in and bought me a pony. My passion developed from here and has never stopped ! I began in eventing and when the fences became too big, I realised I enjoyed the Dressage phase the most.

What have been some of your greatest achievements within your discipline?

My most memorable performances are riding in the Beijing Olympic Games Qualifier on Jaybee Anzac in 2008. Winning Dressage with the Stars twice and runner up once, 2000, 2001 and 2002. Winning numerous Grand Prix Championships with Jaybee Anzac a horse I trained from the age of 3. All competition experiences range from complete bliss to complete disappointment but it is just part of a journey. I try my best to be true to my training beliefs and keep the horses mental health the most important aspect.

What are your aspirations for your riding career? Where do you see yourself in the future?

My ultimate goal is to ride and train horses to Grand Prix and score in the 70% range. I would love to continue to train and coach riders and horses, and be part of others experiences in dressage.

Which Mitavite feeds and/or supplements do you use?

I have been using Mitavite products for over 12 years. From breeding stock to International level Grand Prix horses. Never have I not found a feed within their extensive range that hasn’t suited our horses. I currently have Jaybee Ryana on Munga and Xtra Cool. All the horses that come to NM Dressage for training also are feed within the Mitavite range. I find that Munga offers such a fantastic ability for horses to develop strength and muscle while keeping the “heat” out of them. Xtra Cool offers all our horses a fantastic base feed that keeps them looking and feeling fantastic. If we are looking for that bit extra condition then we like to add Performa Oil to their diets.

What is your all-time favourite Mitavite product and why?

My favourite product is definitely Munga, I cant imagine having Jaybee Ryana in any other product!

What has your experience as a Mitavite Partner Rider been like?

Being a partnered rider with Mitavite for over 10 years, I feel offering my horses the best quality feed on the market is the best decision I can make. Mitavite are professional, constantly researching and improving their products and genuinely enjoy being part of the industry. Mitavite are very generous with their contributions to all areas of equestrian sports and I am proud to be part of the team.

Do you have any advice for beginner / aspiring riders?

The greatest advise in respect to training is a saying: "Frustration begins when ones skill has ended". With the ongoing challenges we all experience it is a good value to keep close.
