Introduce your horses:
Moon Print Warmblood x Thoroughbred 8yo Chestnut Gelding 17.1 hh C grade EA National Future Squad 2013 Nitty is a cheeky horse with plenty of personality, he loves chasing his feed bin and using it as a play toy throwing it around the paddock.
Ranger Thoroughbred 11yo Bay Gelding 17hh C grade EA Jumping Futurities and Mini Prix level Ranger is a lovely horse with loads of personality, loves a cuddle. He is a pleasure to ride and competes in a snaffle.
Leica Review Thoroughbred 7yo Bay Gelding 16.2hh C grade EA Goblin is a great horse to ride in competitions and is always in the winner’s circle. He came from a friend as a unraced thoroughbred and has taken to show jumping with ease.
Thea Warmblood x Thoroughbred 6yo Bay Mare 16.1hh Little miss was so easy to break in and is a joy to ride with a super jump and great willing attitude. Loves to buck and play in the paddock.
Jimmy Warmblood x Thoroughbred 5yo Bay Gelding 17.1hh Jim is a shy boy and I’m bring him along slowly. He has amazing balance in his canter and a lovely jump. He is closely related to Moon Print.
Ace Warmblood x Thoroughbred 6yo Bay Mare 18hh Ace is a Giant and isn’t a tiny bit under 18hh... How she ended up this big is beyond me, her mum was my super jumper For Kicks 16.2hh, her half-sister is Thea 16.1hh and her father Asca Z is 16.3hh.
Oakwood Thoroughbred 28yo Brown Gelding 16hh Oakie was a great race horse for Bart Cummings and then we went from beginners to World Cups, our highest placing was 3rd in the Caboolture World Cup in 2003. He has enjoyed retirement for the past 8 years and still looks fantastic on Gumnuts.
For Kicks Thoroughbred 15yo Bay Mare 16.2hh Poss was a star jumper and had the most amazing backend always attracting attention. Poss is the mother of Thea & Ace and we are looking forward to the next breeding season.
Black Betty Warmblood x Thoroughbred 10yo Black Mare 16.1hh Betty is Moon Print’s half-sister and we are looking forward to putting her in foal for the first time later this year.
Sinister Thoroughbred 8yo Bay Mare 16hh Sinny is a lovely mare that I bought for her breeding as she has a lot of jumping lines that I have worked with over the years. We are thinking of breeding a racehorse. Sinny is enjoying time out with Poss & Betty.
Where did your love of horse-riding begin and when did you get started within your discipline?
My love of horse riding came from my mum and dad they both had eventers/jumpers and I begged to ride for years. I started riding at 8yo and showjumping at 10yo.
Did you have any horse-riding role-models as a beginner rider?
What have been some of your greatest achievements within your discipline?
Cooma Showjumping Festival – Futurity – 2nd place This was Moon Print’s first futurity start and he jumped a double clear round to place second. I was ecstatic.
What are your aspirations for your riding career? Where do you see yourself in the future?
I am aiming to take Moon Print to the next Olympics and World Equestrian Games.
Which Mitavite feeds and/or supplements do you use?
Impacta, Promita, Gumnuts, Breeda, Performa 3 Oil & Bonafide. All my horses look amazing have great topline and shiny coats. The performance horses have plenty of energy to jump but remain sensible and rideable. Gumnuts keeps my old champion looking healthy and strong with a beautiful dappled and shiny coat and bonifide has improved his joint flexibility. My broodmares & foals have always looked fantastic on Breeda giving them the nutrition they need. Moon Print is a shining example.
What is your all-time favourite Mitavite product and why?
Bonafide. This product brings to the market something no one else has. I have seen how it has improved my 28yo’s movement and also an 8yo broodmare that was showing signs of arthritis and she changed dramatically. I use this product on all my horses from young stock to old horses.
What has your experience as a Mitavite Partner Rider been like?
I have been proudly sponsored by Mitavite for the past 12 years and I couldn’t ask for a more supportive sponsor. They are always looking for ways to help and with expert nutritionists on hand to answer enquiries it makes working out the best feeding program for your horse easy.
Do you have any advice for beginner / aspiring riders?
Set goals for yourself but remember they will have to be flexible as you are working with horses. Keep an open mind every horse is different. You never stop learning.
